The emerging prominence of Social Media in Hotel Marketing

There has been a shift in the marketing strategy used by hotels in the region, with more and more hotels turning to the popular social networking sites such as twitter and facebook to attract more guests.
According to a recent survey, a third of twitter users from the Middle East and North Africa region had purchased a product or service based on recommendations by fellow “tweeters”. This goes to the show the huge potential these sites have for hoteliers looking to promote a brand within a large segment of the population - that too for free.

I do appreciate marketing professionals who are listening in social media. And I’ve seen at 5 great hoteliers who are on Twitter and are doing excellent excellent job in their promotions and listening to customers.
Oh yes I agree that social networking is a great plae for ideas for travel and other thinsg aswel. You get first hand accounts of places so its great for advice.
