Change in Expat Family Visa Requirement – Minimum Salary Raised
15 Comments Published by dubaigirl July 2nd, 2009 in Living, News.According to Gulf News, expats who wish to bring their families here will now be required to earn minimum AED 10,000 and also rent an independent accomodation:
Major General Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali, director general of the Naturalisation and Residency Department (NRD), said the decision was made after a study by the Ministry of Interior on the negative effects of allowing residents to bring their families without sufficient income and a suitable place to stay…
Al Menhali said it is best for the minimum wage to be raised to cope with the cost of living, rents, school fees and health care.
Earlier expats with minimum AED 6,000 salary could sponsor their families. But with Dubai becoming increasingly expensive, many families struggle to make ends meet.

hi i just want to say that this is not fair that you are going to change the minimum salary from 4000 to 10000 now i think evry body will go out from here only the manager and other big people will remain here. this is really not fair with every body otherwise increase the salary also ………….
minimum salary AED6000 is better
minimum salary raised AED 10000 so many persons struggle to hear this news
The amendment of the new rule for the family visa amount in UAE to be minimum of AED 10,000 is not at all acceptable as far as an ordinary person’s most desire to live with his family is beeing sacrificed because of the new law. which means the ordinary person will be always alone and do not have any happiness and rich persons only have to have the pleasure.
This is totaly injustice and not at all acceptable.
dear sir,
my salary is 6500 iam working in dubai can i sponsour my wife or rules are changed already please guide me
Assalam O Alaikum Warahmatullah,
can send me full details related to family / visit visa.
i want to bring my wife here in Dubai, what is the prosses for that.
Thanks
It will increase the depression in expat who is living with his family and who want to bring his family after married.
The life of Expat in Dubai will be worst now without family.
It is a very unfair decision @ this time of recession, many families will be forced to leave the country and it’s a loss to the UAE because it’s the families who spend on the basic necessities and not bachelors.
hw many days it wil take 2 get my spouse visa as am sponsering her visa..plz telme..
It is not acceptable to impliment this rule as it mainly affecting middle class people. So I kindly request to the Govt. officials to withdraw this rule.
Hi members & To some related departments..
As you, the analysist says 10000 DHS min to take our family to dubai is fine, as we know the cost of living, rents, school fees and health care are very high..
Same time why cant the government fix minimum salary that have to be provided by private sectors…
now a days due to economic crices all the company have reduced the salary… but still rent, other expences remains the same….
why cant housing department fix maximum rent depends on location…
if government takes step in all sections , every thing will be ok…
minimum salary 4000 is reasonable, otherwise it will be harmful for this country.
Will this new rule effect the existing families, at the time of renewal of their visas or the new visa applications only, kindly confirm.
its really an unfair decision. the single expat’s life would be really horrible. Plus its will ECONOMIC loss to UAE on the whole.
