Here’s the follow up on my previous post on the Dubai Shopping Festival 2009. The calendar of events for this DSF 2009 has been released. This year is going to packed with even more fun activities, events, concerts, and exciting shopping offers…

The Walk, JBR

Shopping Malls – Expect incredible promotions and discounts of up to 80 percent at 6,000 retail outlets 40 shopping malls participating in DSF 2009. Among the new additions this year are the Dubai Mall and The Walk at JBR.

Al Seef Street - The scene of popular DSF attractions which include Night Souk, Fun Fair and restaurants all located near the beautiful Dubai Creek.

Global Village – As the name implies, a place where you can get a peek at different cultures from around the world.

DSF Desert Camp – A unique concept, this place offers visitors the option of renting a tent in the desert. It also has a host of activites to choose from for those who may not wish to stay overnight with a traditional souk, quad bikes, and camel and horse riding.

Concerts – At least 8 different concerts have been organized by DSF this year. Here is a list of the performances…

• Jan 16: Tamer Hosny, Dubai Festival City
• Jan 29: Kavi Sammelan, The Indian High School
• Jan 30: Zakir Hussain, Dubai Aviation Club
• Jan 28 – Feb 6: The Woman in Black, Madinat Jumeirah
• Feb 6: Ghulam Ali Concert, Hyatt Regency
• Feb 12: Shaggy Concert, Dubai Festival City
• Feb 13: Iron Maiden, Dubai Media City Amphitheatre
• Feb 15: Pankaj Udhas, Hyatt Regency

Dubai Food Festival – To be held in Uptown Mirdiff from Feb 1 to Feb 14, this gastronomic attraction will feature celebrity chefs, culinary workshops, interactive events and prizes. Visitors will also get the chance to sample the food on ‘Sampling Sundays’ and ‘Buffet Tuesdays’.

Biggest Biryani Bowl – This is going to be an attempt to set a record by making the largest amount of this popular rice dish. It will be held on Feb 6 at the Global Village.

DSF Raffles – DSF 2009 offers the chance to win Lexus cars, AED 100,000 cash, range of Nissan cars, and even an apartment in Jumeirah Village in the following raffles.

• ENOC-Eppco Raffle (Feb 15)
• Lexus Mega Raffle (Jan 15 – Feb 15)
• Nissan Grand Raffle (Jan 15 – Feb 15)

These are some of the main attractions during this year’s DSF. With the economy slowing down around the globe, there is great emphasis on big discounts and special offers. Even the hotels will slash their rates by more than half. If you are planning to book a hotel room, you can find some great deals on this hotel discounts website.
