The Emirates Identity Authority has announced the following schedule for the ID card registration of the expatriates in the UAE. They have been divided into four different categories based on profession/industry; each with its own time frame for registration.

Residents and Professionals working for the Government and the Private Sector have been given a deadline of Feb 28, 2009 to register for the ID card. Group 2, which comprises of administrative and craft working residents in the private sector, including Banks, Insurance, Tourism, Hotels, etc, can apply from March 1, 2009 until June 18, 2009. Group 3 covers unskilled working residents, which can register from June 20, 2009 to September 30, 2009. Finally, Group 4 which covers construction workers in the private sector can register from October 1, 2009 to December 30, 2010.
