Career Guidance in the UAE

I have recently opened a new business here in Dubai on Career Guidance. I am fully qualified and have had many years expereince working with individuals of all ages back in the UK. I was dismayed after reading a poll on the private education system in dubai, that one of the area’s parents were concerned with was the lack of career education by professionally trained career advisors for their children. I had approached many of the private schools and not one returned my calls or replied to emails. As parents are paying the fee’s maybe they should be asking questions about the role of career development in the private schools. I approached the government schools and they are very interested in the plan. Career development is crucial in this day and age due to the range and diversity of courses and careers. In many countries, careers development is being introduced into the primary schools as this has the advantage of young people having the tools and information required to make the decisions at crucial times in their lifes.
In this arena of life long learning, it is important that people have the ability to manage their own careers and continually develop their skills. If they have not been taught how evaluate their, strengths, weaknesses, make decisions and assess the labour market. This makes finding the right career for them a very uphill hurdle.
