Everyone who has been to Dubai knows what a fast-paced environment it is. People who have lived in Dubai and the UAE often return or move to other Gulf countries with a more homely pace of life…like Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. The most frequently-voiced complaints include traffic, stress, social environment…and Rents!

The Gulf Times today reported that “Prohibitive rents will make some expats leave” and illustrate the problem quite well with a survey and comments by residents.

With a firm and conclusive rent ceiling no where in sight, what is the likely future of expat relocations to Dubai and the UAE? There’s no doubt that the mind-boggling array of new projects and initiatives in the country will continue to draw in more expats with lucrative salaries and packages. All expats moving to Dubai can do at the moment is hold on to this caveat and ensure their packages include accommodation…not allowances for the same, which are likely to fall short due to soaring rents.
